A 22nd century mom

Strong will, colossal determination and indomitable grit is what describes mom in short. On the eve of our “people’s man” Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birthday I am extremely elated to write about one of the biggest followers of his ideals and principles. Amma is a very simple, humble and wise lady. According to me, she is a visionary of sorts. She thinks not just ahead of times but ahead of eras. Her thirst for knowledge has left no forte untouched. Her opinions about everything, be it politics, sports, movies, philosophy, lifestyle and many more spheres of life are extremely logical, convincing and impactful. Her strength of mind and practical approach towards various issues are certain things I have not seen even in girls of today. Her silence backed with a subtle wit makes her the most coolest mom to possess. Times when I laze around unproductively, the only thing that she would say is “ Poor thing, Mr. Kalam trusts youngsters like you in taking the nation forward, if not for my words, atleast for the sake of that noble man please do something for your better and the nation’s progress”. Making it big in life and working towards making our country a better place to live in is the best thing that I can do to bring a smile on her face. Its the thought of wanting to impress her that makes me volunteer actively for causes like children’s education. The values and ideals she has imbibed in me will continue inspiring me forever.
